On 29th January 1954, Huddersfield Town welcomed Independiente FC of Argentina, when 20,042 fans packed into the Leeds Road ground.
The Argentine side boasted several international players, but Huddersfield had the best defensive record in the top flight at that point in their domestic season.
Metcalfe, Burrell and Jimmy Glazzard all scored for the home side who came away with a 3 – 2 win.
After the game the two teams dined on Jamon con Huevos – that’s ham and eggs to you and me!
The menu has been signed by both squads.
