1964 Scottish League Cup Final medal awarded to Glasgow Rangers player James Forrest on 24th October 1964.
Rangers played Celtic in the final in front of a packed out crowd of 91,000 at Hampden Park, with Forrest scoring both the goals for Rangers in a 2 – 1 victory.
Forrest scored 145 goals in 163 appearances for the Glasgow side, and netted his 50th for the club in only his 45th game. To date he also still holds the record for most number of goals scored for Rangers in a League Cup match, scoring five times in a 7–1 victory rout of Hamilton Academical F.C. on 30 October 1965.
Interesting fact about James Forrest, his cousin Alex Willoughby was also a professional footballer. Amazingly, the two were team-mates at Drumchapel, Rangers, Aberdeen and Hong Kong Rangers during their careers.
