This is a 1939/40 Leicester City FC season ticket.
The season ticket, which belonged to a Mr Stubbs, is season ticket number 46 – and was issued in the form of a booklet which contains individual perforated slips, one for each of the permitted games of the season.
Tickets 1 to 6 have been used, along with a select few further tickets through to number 28. After number 28, none of the other tickets have been touched.
Leicester were competing in the 2nd Division, but after just 3 games the league was abandoned due to the outbreak of the 2nd World War.
However, in the fixture card at the back of the season ticket booklet, scores for the first 4 games of the season have been entered – as more than 4 tickets have been used, we can only assume that a number of friendlies were played in the early stages of the war.
