Signed on the inner cover by the man himself, this programme dates back to the 1983 ceremony in which Bob Paisley was awarded the freedom of the city of Liverpool.
Paisley spent almost 50 years at Liverpool as a wing half, physiotherapist, coach and manager. After the retirement of Bill Shankly, Paisley was initially reluctant to take over at the helm but was eventually confirmed as the Anfield club’s new manager. He went on to preside over the most successful period in their history taking them to:
- Six League Championships
- 3 League Cups
- 6 Charity Shields
- 3 European Cups
- 1 UEFA Cup
- 1 UEFA Super Cup
- He also won the Manager of the Year Award a record six times.
The event took place at Mountford Hall, Liverpool University Students Union on 23rd November 1983.
