Following a number of shrewd signings in his first season with the club, things really came together for Brian Clough’s Derby County the following year when they were the runaway winners of Division Two, gaining promotion back to the top flight of English football.
The Rams held this dinner for the team at the Pennine Hotel, more recently known as The Heritage Hotel, in celebration of their fantastic achievements.
The menu has been signed by the squad who won promotion, along with Miss Derby County 1969, Patricia Wheeldon - also a winner of Miss Britain. The winner of Miss Derby County was decided by the players, who would cast their vote for their favourite girl.
Just a few seasons later, and Derby would claim their first top flight title during their greatest ever season in 1971/72.
