The colouring on this particular England cap makes it very rare indeed.
It was awarded to leftback Ted Catlin who spent his whole career at Sheffield Wednesday, and was called up to the squad to face Hungary in their first ever match in England.
Played on 2nd December 1936 at Highbury, England won the game 6 – 2 with Ted Drake scoring a memorable hat-trick.
Catlin made just 5 appearances for England, although it could have been more had it not been for the Second World War.
He played his last league game for Wednesday on the day war was declared in 1939, but continued on their books during the conflict. His career was effectively ended in a collision with Blackpool’s Jack Dodds in 1943
