This card was signed by an Arsenal side during World War II – according to the notes on the card, it’s the side who played West Ham on 17th May 1941, although we can’t find any records of the score from that game.
The only reference to that game, being played on that date, is in a catalogue of football programmes listed on the internet, with a note stating it was part of the London Cup competition.
The seller claims that West Ham won the game 3 – 0, although other sources claim Arsenal won 3 – 0, but we haven’t been able to verify it either way through any other source yet.
It was played at White Hart Lane.
On the rear of the card a child has written the word to the nursery rhyme “Three Little Kittens” – somebody should have hidden their autograph book!
