Before plastic became the preferred material of manufacture, Subbuteo figures used to be made of cardboard and came in strips just like the two examples shown above.
Once removed from the strips, they were placed in their hard plastic bases.
These two unused examples were added to our collection in 2012, which includes a vast amount of Subbuteo – a personal favourite of our owner.
The two teams featured here are East Fife (above) in the orange and black kit, and Bishop Auckland (below) in the blue shirts.
