These two batches of labels come from George Best’s clothing boutique in Manchester, and were destined for use on some of the products for sale in his store.
Best’s boutique was opened on Bridge Street in the mid-60s just off Deansgate, next door to the salon of his good friend and future business partner Malcolm Wagner.
His partner in the boutique venture was Man City forward Mike Summerbee, who became best friends with the legend after a chance meeting in a coffee shop when George was feeling homesick and looking for company.
