This is an exceptionally rare 1921 FA Cup Final souvenir postcard sold ahead of the game at Stamford Bridge.
Unfortunately for Wolves they were sent back to their lairs empty handed, with Jimmy Dimmock’s second half goal the difference between the two teams on the day.
The postcard cost two pence at the time, and was printed by Fleet Journals Ltd.
It has been used, although the message written on the rear in pencil has started to fade – it does however tell of the sender, Uncle Fed, finding work against “amongst lasses” – it goes on to say that his usual work was scarce due to the coal strikes at the time. The strike was called on 31st March that year and lasted until June, with coal rationing coming into effect in early April.
