Commonly known as star badges, these collectable items were actually available in a number of different shapes. We have around 800 in our collection to date, dating predominantly from the 1950s and 1960s and are always looking to acquire more.
Sir Stanley Matthews joined Blackpool in 1947 at the age of 32, and continued to play for the club right through until 1961 when he left for Stoke, at the age of 46.
Often seen as one of the greatest players of the English game, he is still the only player to be knighted whilst still playing. He was also the first ever player to win European Player of the Year and Football Writers’ Association Footballer of the Year in the same season.
