This is a fantastic little collection, which includes two hand signed short-term contracts and several photographs belonging to former Charlton Athletic player Bertram Scott Dunn, who was with the club in the early 1920s.
We’d like to thank the volunteers at the Charlton Athletic Museum for offering some more information about Dunn’s career. Bertram was injured during World War 1 on the Western Front, and just five years later he was playing in Charlton Athletic’s first ever professional match, in the Southern League in 1920 after joining for Carshalton Athletic in London.
In total, Dunn only made 8 appearances for The Addicks, also playing in their first league game in 1921. His final game for the club was on 22nd April 1922.
In the 1922/23 season, Charlton were in the Third Division South, and made it to the quarter finals of the FA Cup when they were knocked out by Bolton. It looks as though Dunn didn’t feature that season, despite still being under contract.
