Born in Sunderland in 1882, Bob Jefferson was first signed by Bradford City in 1904 after being spotted while playing as an amateur in his home town.
A reliable outside right, he moved to Leeds City in 1906 but made just 17 appearances, although he scored five goals during that time, including on his debut against Leicester Fosse.
This postcard was signed by the player during his time at Leeds.
In 1908 he left for Swindon, where he spent the bulk of his career until retiring in 1922. He was one of the scorers in Swindon’s first ever match in the Football League.
Jefferson then went on to have several managerial spells in Holland at clubs in Arnhem, Eindhoven and Utrecht.
