Originally a striker, and then becoming a full-back, Andy Young spent 5 years playing for Arsenal in the 1920s.
The club paid £2,000 to bring him in from Aston Villa, and he played his debut in March 1922 against his former club.
After moving to full-back in 1923/4 he was very much sidelined, not making double figues with his appearances in the next three seasons until he left the club in 1927 for Bournemouth.
This medal was awarded to Young after his appearances in the side which won the 1926/7 London Combination. The league was formed in 1915 for reserve sides of top flight clubs in the London area, as World War 1 saw the Football League suspended.
