After leaving Celtic, Willie Fagan was picked up by Preston North End who he would help to the FA Cup final in 1936/37 where they would lose 3 – 1 to Sunderland.
Fagan was one of seven Scottish players to feature for Preston that day, with Sunderland fielding a further five Scotsmen. Both managers were also Scottish!
This medal was awarded to Fagan as part of the losing Preston squad.
We also have a matchworn Preston shirt which is likely to have been worn by Fagan in the final.
