In what could be considered a historical forerunner to Sport Relief, Tottenham Hotspur played several games against the Music Hall Artistes side made up of sporting music hall performers.
The game combined two of the most popular forms of entertainment from the period, with music halls and association football being hugely popular throughout the UK at the time.
These items come from two charity matches held between the two sides held. The money raised was used to support:
- Prince of Wales’s Hospital and Convalescent Home
- Music Hall Artistes Benevolent Fund
- The Press Fund
