This programme comes from the 16th September 1911 meeting between Manchester City and Aston Villa, which City lost 6 – 2 on the day in front of a disappointed home crowd.
That match was also the final game for City full back Frank Norgrove who moved to the club in 1904 after starting his career with Glossop.
From 1906 he took over as the first team regular from Charlie Burgess at left back, and became known for his hard tackling. Halfway through the following season he lost his place to Bert Jackson, and had brief spells thereafter before leaving the club with 98 appearances under his belt and one goal in the league. Frank didn’t play football again after the First World War.
