This original programme comes from a charity football match held at Aberystwyth Town FC’s Park Avenue ground in 1909, then known as ‘The Smithfield Ground’.
Prone to flooding due to its location on the banks of the River Rheidol, the ground was raised around 4 feet after the first world war, with the use of refuse from the local infirmary and sewage works.
