When he joined Aston Villa in 1947 after a season with Nottingham Forest, Bert Brown set a new transfer record for the side who paid £10,000 for him.
This original letter, signed by Villa manager Alex Massie, was sent to Bert to welcome him to the club.
It comes to us directly from Sailor’s family, along with several other items from his collection including his FA Cup runners up medal from 1946.
