This is an official World Cup ’78 mug released by the Scottish Football Association ahead of the tournament in Argentina.
The mug has never made it out of it’s original box, much like Scotland who failed to make it out of Group 4, coming 3rd to The Netherlands on goal difference. To date Scotland have been eliminated on goal difference three times, the other occasions being 1978 and 1982.
The other two sides of the triangular box display the kits of all the teams involved, shown together in their respective groups.
Argentina eventually beat The Netherlands 3 – 1 in the final to lift the trophy at their home tournament.
