Another piece of fantastic wartime football memorabilia, this time from the Inter-Allied Services Cup Competition Final which was held between the army and RAF at Stamford Bridge on April 26th, 1943.
The cup was set up for two reasons. Firstly, to encourage members of the forces to play sport and to foster relationships between allied forces stationed in the UK. Secondly it also raised much needed money for services charities caring for the wounded and their families during and after the war.
Games included the Norwegians beating the Fighting French 1 – 0, and the RAF beating the Polish Defence and Civil XI en route to the final.
