In 1975 the playing surface at Derby County’s Baseball Ground was removed in order to make way for a new playing surface.
To commemorate the event the club released a limited number of soil samples from the ground mounted on an official plaque.
This is one of those limited edition samples, and it comes from the Baseball Ground centre circle. A brief history of the ground is described on the plaque.
