This is a signed page taken from the 1935/47 Wembley Distinguished Visitors Book and features signatures from the war time English & Welsh teams who met in a friendly match on September 25th 1943.
The page includes signatures from the two Blackpool FC gvreats Stan Mortensen and Stanley Matthews as well as Arsenal fullback Laurie Scott.
Also included are the signatures of the referee and the two linesmen.
Having almost beaten England in Cardiff in May of that year, Wales started brightly by scoring the opener but their challenge was soon extinguished thanks to a four goals in five minutes spell from England to make it 4 – 1 at half time. The match finished 8 – 3 to England, with all funds raised going to the Red Cross and St Johns Fund.
