This is the original contract between Francis Henry Lee and Manchester City, prepared when he joined the club in late 1967.
At the time, Lee was promised a wage of £60 per week plus bonuses – details of which are shown in the images above.
We also have his signed contract from 1971, where his wages had increased to £130 per week.
As a forward, Lee scored 112 goals in 249 games for City before finishing his career with Derby from 1974 to 1976, and was the first England player to be booked in a World Cup – Mexico 1970.
After leaving football, Lee set up a toilet roll manufacturing business, which employed a young Peter Kay before he found comedy fame!
