This badge was taken from the shirt of former Sunderland FC player Charles Buchan, who played in a historic match between the Irish League XI and the Football League XI on 23rd October 1912 at The Oval in Belfast.
Buchan spent 14 years at Sunderland, scoring 209 goals and taking the title of leading scorer in 7 of his 9 seasons.
Buchan ended his career at Arsenal and was instrumental in their adoption of the WM formation alongside Herbert Chapman, which brought them much success in the 1930s.
