We love a good vintage rosette at The National Football Collection – like this one featuring the legendary Jimmy Greaves!
Born in 1940, Greavsie was signed to AC Milan from Chelsea in 1961 after four prolific seasons with The Blues.
After a short, but less than happy, career in Italy he moved to Spurs for £99,999 in 1961, which was where he stayed until 1970. The strange transfer fee was agreed to ensure Jimmy didn’t feel the additional pressure of being the first hundred grand player.
Despite not winning a league title, he did win two FA Cups, two Charity Shields and a European Cup Winners Cup – scoring 220 league goals.
