This is a cartoon of Johnny Vincent, one of the heroes of the now defunct New Brighton FC’s 1956/57 FA Cup run.
On the bottom right it shows a number of sides knocked out by The Rakers, including my old local club Earlestown, although they have also long since disappeared.
It has been signed by Johnny Vincent in the bottom left hand corner.
The club’s cup run ended in a 9 – 0 defeat to Burnley.
It could have been ten, but Rakers keeper Stan Hurst saved a penalty… that year he saved 19 penalties from 23.
We can’t find any information on the player himself – but he shouldn’t be confused with the player of the same name who made 171 appearances for Birmingham.
