This is an official handover pennant from the October 1990 clash between Juventus and FC Sliven of Bulgaria, played in the Italian club’s home city of Turin.
This European Cup Winners Cup first round match-up, played over two legs, saw FC Sliven lose 2 – 0 and then 6 – 1 to crash out of the competition as many had expected following the draw.
Sliven, a regular top flight club in their home country, went into a serious crisis over the next few years and eventually went bankrupt after being relegated. The club was then reborn in 2000, but withdrew from the Bulgarian B Professional Football Group in 2013 following financial problems.
