
Newcastle United beat Ujpest Dozsa of Budapest 6 – 2 on aggregate in 1969 to win the 11th Inter-Cities Fairs Cup.
The home leg resulted in a 3 – 0 win for the Toon Army, thanks to a Bobby Moncur brace and a late Jim Scott goal.
The away leg at the Megyeri Uti Stadium saw Ujpest go 2 – 0 up in the first half.
Newcastle pulled themselves together in the second half, with goals from Moncur, Preben Arentoft and substitute Alan Foggon who had only just joined the field of play eventually sealing a comfortable win over two legs.
