Here we have a selection of photographs, plus a newspaper advert, which came to use from a family member of the late Albert ‘Pat’ Beasley.
Born in Stourbridge, Beasley played for his local side and Kidderminster before being signed by Arsenal for £500 in 1931, aged just 17.
In 1937 he moved to Huddersfield, reaching the FA Cup final with the Terriers, where they lost to Preston. During this time he also earned his only official England cap, in a 2 – 1 win over Scotland, in which he scored.
After the war he joined Fulham, helping them to lift the 2nd Division title, before becoming player-manager at Bristol City from 1950.
He also had managerial spells with Birmingham City and Dover.
