This Stoke City letterhead has been signed by former Secretary and Manager Tom Mather, as a letter of condolence to the Wolves board following the death of their chairman in 1933.
That season Mather would lead Stoke City out of the Second Division after they finally won the league.
He was in charge from 1923 to 1935 and gave Stanley Matthews his debut. He also released several players at the end of his first season in charge after a poor league finish, with several taking offense and smashing up the offices at the Victoria Ground.
