This star badge dates from the 1950s and features long serving Tottenham Hotspur goalkeeper Ted Ditchburn, who made 418 appearances for the club after playing with the club’s ‘nursery team’ Northfleet Town.
He joined the club in 1939 and made his first senior appearance against Chelsea in 1940 in a wartime league game. During the war he also represented the RAF & Combined Services and guested for Aberdeen before returning to Tottenham in August 1946.
From this point onwards he played in 247 consecutive matches, and was part of the squad which claimed the Division Two title in 1949/50 and Division One title the next season.
He ended his Tottenham career after making 418 appearances for the club against the very same club he made his senior debut against, and after sustaining a broken finger in his final match against Chelsea he left to become player/manager of Romford and then Brentwood Town.
He also made six appearances for England, during a period dominated by a number of other consistent keepers
