This page comes from the Wembley distinguished visitors book, and was signed by the 1943 teams of Arsenal and Charlton Athletic who played one another in the Football League (South) War Cup Final.
The tournament was an association football event, held between 1939 and 1945 in response to the cancellation of the FA Cup during World War II.
On the day Arsenal beat Charlton 7 – 1 in front of a crowd of 75,000. They then met the winners of the Football League (North) War Cup Final to determine the overall winner of the competition.
On this occasion Arsenal faced off against Blackpool, and lost 4 – 2 against the Lancashire side in front of over 55,000 fans as Stamford Bridge.
