Here we have a Western Command Sports Association medal which would have been awarded to the winners of the Inter-Depot South Wales Borderers football in 1928-29.
The British Army’s Western Command was active from 1905 to 1972, and was originally known as the Welsh & Midland Command.
Formed in 1689, the South Wales Borderers regiment was amalgamated with the Welch Regiment in 1969 to form the Royal Regiment of Wales.
