Willie Fagan’s first FA Cup final was in 1937 with Preston North End, when he faced Raich Carter and his Sunderland teammates.
Carter went on to win a medal that season, and would then become the only player get an FA Cup winners medal either side of the war when he represented Derby County in 1948.
On the other hand, Fagan would become the only player that we are aware of to receive an FA Cup runners up medal both before and after the second world war.
This medal was awarded at the 1950 final when Willie played for Liverpool, and you can also find his Preston medal here.
