Willie Watson was a formidable left-half with Huddersfield Town.
He was part of Town’s hugely successful 1920′s side, also winning the FA Cup with the side, who beat Preston North End 1 – 0.
After Huddersfield, he moved on to Sunderland and Halifax Town – he also managed the latter along with Bradford City.
He is not to be confused with his son, also known as Willie Watson and born in the same village in 1920, who then went on to play for Huddersfield in the 1930s and also played cricket for England.
