This is an official Football Association Cup Tie board game based on the game of draughts, which dates back to around the time of World War One.
Although no manufacturing date is printed on the board, the giveaway is in the bottom square on the left hand side – Leeds City.
Leeds City were the leading side haling from Yorkshire’s main city after being formed in 1904.
The club was disbanded in 1919 after a series of financial irregularities, which included breaking the ban on paying players during the war. They remain the only club to be expelled from the Football League mid-season. The harsh punishment was handed down thanks in part to the behaviour of directors at the club, who refused to co-operate with an FA investigation, or hand over any financial details.
The mighty Leeds United were formed shortly afterwards, and entered the Football League in the 1920-21 season.
