Irish Cup Winners medal belonging to Jack Vernon who represented Belfast Celtic against Glentoran in the 1942/3 season in a 1 – 0 victory.
Vernon turned down an approach from Liverpool early on in his career and opted to stay at the Belfast club which dominated the league during the second world war period. In February 1947 he moved to England to play for West Bromwich Albion for a club record £9,500 where he made 192 appearances scoring a single goal before returning to Ireland in 1952 as player manager of Crusaders, who replaced Belfast Celtic in the Irish league.
