At the end of the 1936/37 season, Luton Town FC were crowned champions of the Football League Division III South.
The league ran parallel with Third Division North, with the winning sides elected to move up to Division II, whilst clubs relegated from Division II were placed in a third tier division based on their geographical position. This often meant teams in the Midlands were elected to one or the other depending on the make-up of the North and South Divisions for the upcoming season.
Luton finished 12th the following season and successfully avoided relegation.
