This is the #9 shirt worn by double Golden Boot winner Malcolm ‘Supermac’ Macdonald for Newcastle United in the 1974 FA Cup final.
Currently the Toon Army’s fifth highest goalscorer of all time, Macdonald spent five seasons on Tyneside between 1971 and 1975, also picking up 14 caps for England.
On his home debut, Macdonald scored a hat-trick for Newcastle against Liverpool, who he’d find himself facing in the ’74 final.
Sadly for Macdonald, who scored a brace against Burnley in the semi-final, Liverpool would romp to a 3 – 0 win at Wembley with future Newcastle man Kevin Keegan taking a starring role in their victory.
