This postcard shows Newcastle United goalkeeper Jimmy Lawrence taking a break against Stoke in 1907.
Scottish international Lawrence spent 18 years with The Toon Army from 1904 to 1922 and was also chairman of The Players Union.
Upon retirement he went into management with South Shields, Preston North End and German club Karlsruhr FV.
Newcastle beat Stoke 1 – 0 at a game which was witnessed by both sender and recipient of the postcard judging by the message on the rear.
