This is one of a set of three china tankards, produced to commemorate Glasgow Rangers entrance into the Champions League in the 1996/7 season.
This particular tankard was produced to commemorate the 30th October 1996 game between Rangers and Ajax.
Rangers lost the tie 1 – 0, and went on to finish bottom of Group A with 0 points. Grasshopper and Ajax progressed, whilst Auxerre were also knocked out.
