Wolverhampton Wanderers FC Complimentary Dinner Letter

1898 Wolverhampton Wanderers Celebration Dinner LetterDated April 30th 1898, this letter was sent out as an invite by Henry Dallard as the club’s reserve team manager to inform people of a complimentary dinner to be held at the Molineux Hotel in recognition of the reserve team’s successes that season. The building still stands next to the club’s ground and holds the city archives and an exhibition about the club. The stadium was originally part of the hotel’s gardens.

Before joining Wolves as reserve coach in 1892, Dallard was a founding member of the Walsall Swifts, who were amalgamated with Walsall Town in 1888, and he was described in ‘Lost Teams of the Midlands’ by Mike Bradbury as the “leading football pioneer of all time in the town of  Walsall”.

He then became the vice president of the Birmingham Football Association in the 1920s.
