This is a LNER poster advertising half-day excursions for fans looking to travel to watch Wrexham play New Brighton AFC on the Wirral on 2nd September 1925.
The Third Division (North) clash ended in a 2 – 2 draw with both teams sharing the spoils.
The rear of the poster displays an advert for Dean & Dawson Ltd, an official agent of the London & North Eastern Railway.
New Brighton AFC, who played at Sandhays Park which was heavily damaged by the Luftwaffe during WW2, still hold the record for the oldest player to play in a Football League match – manager Neil McBain being forced to play in goal against Hartlepool in March 1947 at aged 51 years and 120 days.
They disbanded in 1983.
