This figure of John Charles was made by the iconic World of Groggs shop in Pontypridd.
Many famous Welsh celebrities, rugby players and footballers have been imortalised at Grogg figures over the years, including the Leeds and Juventus legend, who wears his famous #9 shirt.
Whenever a person is ‘grogged’ they are presented with the first figure made where possible – and this figure features an inscription on the back of the base that says “To John, from Les and all at the Grogg Shop.”
In 1989, John was given this figure and personally signed it on the base – and when he eventually put it up for sale, we couldn’t resist!
These figures are produced in limited numbers, are made by hand, and can take weeks to produce. When they’re all done, the moulds are destroyed!
