A very simple, yet none the less very rare football programme from Oxford University AFC’s game against Arsenal in 1956.
Jim Standen appeared in goal for the Gunners against Oxford, just a couple of months before his first team debut, where he deputised for Jack Kelsey against Burnley on 7th January 1957 in the league.
Thanks to Andy Kelly for getting in touch with further details – this was one of many friendlies held between Arsenal and the University of Oxford team during the period, and Arsenal won this particular match 1 – 0.
The Gunners also played games against Cambridge University FC during the same period.
